Update Correction On-Line

Update correction On-Line  top

The CD Update sent last week to EMA covered customers contained some empty data files for the forthcoming Inventory feature that were formatted for a later Btrieve version.  The consequence of this is an error form when updated users first sign in, signifying a '30' error on the file RPLAYER.  You would not receive this error if you happen to have a later version of Btrieve, as did all of our test environments.  It is possible that some workstations on your network will get this error and others will not.  You may click continue when you see this error form and operate RPMS normally - no additional problems will be evident.  However, each time you sign in RPMS you will receive this error, until your database is updated with the correct file version.

To fix this problem
  1. One person on your network should run the update link below, when no one else is signed in to RPMS, to copy in the correctly formatted files.  You will need to know the data folder to apply this patch.  To double check the location of the data folder, right click the icon that launches RPMS, click Properties, then Shortcut, then check the Start In prompt.  This prompt points to your data folder.
  2. You should repeat this process if you have multiple data sets for different rep firms, specifying the different data folders each time.
Click Here - www.rpms.com/patches/v7/7.2.13u/v7update.exe  to run this update.

The update is very small, and you can run it directly from the Internet.  You do not need to have processed the 7.2.13 update CD already to apply this patch to your data folder - doing this patch first and then applying CD later will prevent the problem from occurring.

The Inventory module is still in development, and the late changes of those files added to the master CD were not thought to have any bearing on current users, since no V7 users have the Inventory feature installed.  All the testers of the master CD installation program had later versions of Btrieve, so did not receive the error.  We regret this inconvenience, and apologize for the extra step required.

If you have any questions about running this update, please call or write to tech support.
